Position: The Employment Specialist I assists persons with disabilities in maintaining employment in the community through workplace support and training. Additional duties can include assisting with assessments and job development tasks.  


  • Provide job-skill training/coaching to help consumers acquire and maintain independent employment
  • Implement consumer's individual employment plan
  • Help to develop application, resume, cover letter, and interview/job skills
  • Monitor employment progress by completing assessment activities that determine skill level, and identify existing or new barriers
  • Complete daily/monthly reports and documentation based on observations of work performance, goal progress, job coaching hours, and any additional supportive information
  • Transport consumers to employment locations
  • Attend scheduled meetings/trainings and communicate professionally
  • Protect consumer confidentiality
  • Comply with all ARA and employment site safety standards
  • Assist with personal care/medical needs as directed by supervisor

Essential Requirements/Functions:

  • 18 years of age
  • Acceptable Background Character Verification
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record for consumer transport
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to twist, turn, squat, bend, reach, pull, push from high/low position, raise arms above shoulder, walk, sit (chair and floor), climb stairs, and use hands and fingers
  • Communicate basic English
  • Basic reading, writing, and internet navigation skills
